Jog in AM

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Not too much on my agenda the last couple days.  I got today’s training done in 45min before work – an easy jog.  I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s 40km bike time trial,…I’ve done the same course on two separate occasions this summer.  I’ll be trying to better my PB on the course.

Cookin’

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

I cooked a DEEEEEEEElicious wild pickeral today.  Fish is a great source of quality protein with other nutrients of value.  Pickeral is my fav as it doesn’t have a fishy taste.

Separating the skin:

 Dipping in a beaten egg:

Coating with a potato starch/tapioca flour mixture (repeat egg, then again into the flour):

I fried it with sunflower oil without additives:

Ah, patience…

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

Oh, how easily it is to forget how valuable patience is when preparing for Ironman.  Patience is certainly a virtue – yet easily oppressed by notions such as “more is better”, and “gotta get my training in”, or “I need to reach this -target goal mileage- no matter what!”.

In reality, our body’s ability to handle stress is a finite reserve.  How patiently we embrace recovery as part of our training plan, is one of the most important predictors in determining major improvements in performance.

I had a very encouraging bike trainer workout today – it was one of those workouts where my body is showing some major fitness gains.  It seems as though I’m coming into a groove, for that I’m encouraged,…and more importantly, I’m happy that I’ve been patient.
