good surprise

Friday, February 29th, 2008

I love it when my body goes faster than I was expecting.  I’ve been making a conscious effort thinking positively in every way i can.  I definitely believe that the mind leads the body, and have been training my mind as much as my body.  All’s good.

5×500[1) free, 2)100back/50free, 3)100IM/50free, 4)100kick/50free, 5)100IMdrill/50free]

6x[100kick/50swim] on 2:40

30×50 pull with paddles [1-10) on :45, 11-20) IM on :50, 21-30) 15m fast, 35cruise on :55]

I officially signed up for IM Coeur D’Alene.  I noticed that Calgary’s Luke Way, and Victoria’s Mike Neill are on the list too.  I hope Mike has a breakthrough race — he has placed in the top 5 at IM races before.  This will be Luke’s first go at the IM distance – I think he has tremendous talent, and should be interesting to see how his debut goes.

swim/run, looking fat

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Congrats to all the UofC Dinos at CIS last weekend. The men took the team title, while the womens team took second place.

75min swim this morning was good, followed by a 45min HR1 tready run.

After swimming, coach Mike said I was looking fat, and that it was a good thing I was headed for a run.

I just arrived home from Baton Rouge Louisiana.  I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to provide health/injury management support for a couple of Canada’s best track and field athletes.  It was an honour and privelege to help out.  I found it very interesting being a fly on the wall during the training sessions: listening and learning about the finer elements of performing in track and field.  Here’s a few photos from the week.
