Paulo’s in my corner

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I’m steadily training,…all is well. For a little over a week now, I’ve started training under an accomplished coach by the name of Paulo Souza ( He’s had a great deal of success coaching a number of athletes to spectacular Ironman finishes.  Should be fun.

Feeling the crunch

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

IMC seems so close, and I’m feeling a little stressed on the matter.  I know where I’d like my fitness to be come race day, but it seems like there is very little time to get ready…

Nothing much to report – except that I’m alive and mostly well.

Great White North 1/2 Ironman

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Last weekend I raced the Great White North 1/2 Ironman in Stony Plain Alberta.  Here’s a clip of me riding – taken by Luke Way.   Jonathan Caron and Luke Way ( both gave me some informative suggestions of some changes I should make to my set up.  I took both of their opinions seriously and decided to try things out a little differently.  It definitely worked for the better, as I felt like I had another gear while riding.

Leading after the bike, I subsequently suffered on the run and hung on for a 3rd place finish behind Kyle Marcotte and Trev Williams.  Being 2 weeks since racing Coeur D’Alene, I didn’t have the highest of hopes in being able to have a strong run, but the test worked well to see how my new bike set up would work.
