Suunto and Thursday night spin class at SpeedTheory

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Suunto is coming the Thursday night spin class on March 12th. You will be given heart rate monitors to track your workout data which will be all viewed together as a comprehensive workout log. Please download the following excel file, fill out all the data (in the yellow shaded boxes) and email it to the address on the bottom of the form. Also, please make reference to ‘March 12th’ in the subject header.

The key points required on the form are 1) email address – no email address and you will not receive a log of the workout. 2) Max Heart rate. – just put down the highest heart rate you have ever seen your body achieve (during a max effort; ie. at end of a hill sprint). 3) number of hours working out – this helps the Suunto engineers know how active you are to fine tune the software. 4) Vo2 max – ONLY if done in last year, this helps to fine tune the software to give better information back on training effect.

For your interest, here is a link to a video using Suunto’s team pod with USA rowing team.

Had a doosey of a day yesterday,…loads of work chalked up.  Today I capped off yesterday’s effort with a swim/long run.

Longish run/TEST-set on the treadmill:

start at 1% incline, 6mile/hour, increasing .25mile/hour every 10min, until upper limit of zone2 is reached.

finishing time was 1hr50min, associated with 8.5mile/hour or 7:03min/mile pace (150bpm),…cooldown to 2hours.

There’s so many races,…yet so few months to get them all in!!!

As per usual my A-race will be IMCanada.  I love this race, and everything about it: the course, all the volunteers, how professionally it’s organized, and the fact that it’s on home soil.

Now, how to get from my current fitness,..to the best shape possible will be the challenge.  There’s loads of races in between,…I’m leaning towards a few of the OUTBACK EVENTS races as springboard races.  These are always so well organized, including the Canadian Long Distance Championships in Osoyoos (Desert Half), and the newly acquired Sylvan Lake Triathlon.

Also on my race calendar as the Calgary Ironman 70.3,…this will be a beautiful venue and race overall.
