This one’s for Hanner

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

I was tried to do this as a ladder last year,…but failed each time I tried.  Jarret H would recall the difficulty I had with it.  The set today was a Rushton special.

All swim; no paddles or pb – with 100m easy between sets

5x100m on 1:25 (or one less than red)

5x100m on 1:20

5x100m on 1:15 (arriving on 1:11-1:12s)

creativity vs. specificity

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Someone responded to the 100x100m workout,…saying, “weren’t feeling too creative, were you?”.

Triathlon is a competition involving repetition,…executing a movement as well as possible over and over again.  Finding a point of balance biomechanically and physiologically.

I recall talking with Chris McDonald about some monotonous sets that Brett Sutton would have his athletes do – further confirmation that the best in the world aren’t depending on creativity in their workouts.  Some would call these workout boring,…others might call it long distance triathlon training specific.
