Ironman Coeur d’Alene Bike Course

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

This is a video of one of two laps of the Ironman Coeur d’Alene bike course.  Watching it is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with landmarks,…mentally, you can fool yourself into thinking it’s your ‘home course’. 😉

My preparation has never been better, I’m 100% healthy (including only one minor cold virus in the past 12 months), I’m energized and ready to rock this race.

I’ve worked a lot on my stamina for the run. I’m confident that I’ll be able to hold form if or when I have a rough patch during the marathon. It is unacceptable to myself to let myself fall completely off pace – I’ve had such good run preparation that I know I can still run well when I’m hurting.

I’m emphasizing recovery now, while keeping the body fit and tuned. I’ll be training and resting in Vancouver Monday-Tuesday (hitting up Kitsilano Beach 138m pool, and UBC endowment lands park), then travel to Coeur d’Alene on Wednesday.

itchin’ to race

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

I’m excited about this one,…Ironman Coeur d’Alene on June 21st is fast approaching.  I’m as keen as ever to race this one!!!  I’ve often found myself lately racing people out on the road: roadies, people on mountain bikes, moms pushing baby strollers, commuters, little kids on trikes – pretty much chasing anything that moves…I’m having fun, and have good energy.

Here’s a couple photos I saw for the first time today from Ironman Canada last year (from Colin McDarmont on flickr)

On another note, I know someone who has an entry into the Chinook Olympic distance triathlon on June 20th that she can’t use – if anyone wants it, just leave a comment and I’ll put you in touch…
