It’s never a pleasant feeling (no disrespect intended ladies) – but i was chicked today.  Miranda Carfrae, a world champion at the 70.3 distance was better than me today at the Calgary 70.3IM race.  Nobody’s counting I’m sure, but only 8 other men were able to avoid being chicked btw 😛 .  I was amazed by how fast she raced – it was really a great performance to witness.  Kudos to her.

And how about Trev Williams?  The man was the second last pro to to exit the water (only ahead of Olly who was having a strange reaction to cause him to have trouble breathing),…and laid down the fastest bike of the day by almost a minute.  He convincingly passed me close to the end of the bike – I thought to myself that Trev is on his way to having a great race if he can just run like he normally does.   Evidently he didn’t save much for the run, as his form lacked normal ‘Trev speed’ for the 1/2marathon that followed – his effort wasn’t shy in passion however.

Kyle Marcotte proved to be the fastest Calgarian – kudos to him.

As for me, I’m keeping the momentum rolling with my training for Ironman Canada.  Still have a lot of work to do – especially if i want to avoid being chicked again!
