looking uphill

May 21st, 2009

Overall my training has been going well.  I’m in the middle of a strong 30hour/week build from which fitness for Ironman Coeur D’Alene will be derived.  Doing a build like this is not only necessary to load the body enough to stimulate adaptation,…but it’s also good to identify weaknesses.  My weaknesses appear to be living and very real – I’m definitely very mortal, and have cracked a few times.  If I want it, I have to work for it; stay as a persistent bugger.  Alas, there is no easy road – which gives this sport it’s beauty.

I’m spending a decent amount of time training on a 1km hill lately – it simulates the terrain that I’ll be seeing in Coeur D’Alene almost perfectly.  It’s important to me that the 180km bike section of the race is the easiest part.

…I think I’m babbling – time to hit the sack.
