Friday was Justin’s bachelor party. We took some bikes out on the town for a mostly wholesome night of fun. Here are some photos from the evening.

The Ocean
I was surprised to hear from Alex so soon. He said he’d write when he reached the ocean. It seemed like only yesterday that he rolled in for a visit on his way out east. I realize now that it’s been thirteen days. In that time, he rode back into the States at Niagara Falls and traveled through New York State, Vermont and New Hampshire to reach the Atlantic seacoast on Sunday. Here’s a photo of Alex at the end of the road.
Congratulations on fulfilling your dream Alex! I hope you have a safe trip back to Washington State.

A stranger passing through
Today, Alex Brede was passing through Waterloo on his transcontinental bike tour. He’d read my Couchbike story in Adventure Cyclist and wanted to come by and see the rest of the bikes in the fleet.
It was nice to chat with Alex about his trip so far. He started at his home in Bellingham, Washington and is on his way to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It was a steamy hot day, but Alex still wanted to put in a few more miles towards Niagara Falls before the day was out.
I took this photo just as Alex was heading off in the midafternoon sun.

Treadmill Bike in German edition of Shape magazine
It looks like the Germans have caught a particularly virulent form of Treadmill Bike fever. The Treadmill Bike is featured in the August issue of Shape Magazine Germany.We staged a photo shoot at the request of the magazine back in May. The early morning light in the fields outside of Conestogo made for some nice shots. This photo of Sara and Natasha was my favourite and ultimately the one that got published. Looks like we’ll have to ramp up production and be sure to switch the paint line to the hot colours of the German fashion runway.
